Blue To The Bone – More Reviews

New Picture (41)3 Customer Reviews – 5/5

I have been lucky enough to own this CD for several years, having caught Eddie at one of his live gigs and been stunned by the talent of the man. Fortunately, unlike some artist’s recorded efforts, this album is every bit as good as the real thing, featuring power house blues from eddie’s three piece band, and some wonderful backing from the Little Big Horns. The opening track Blue to the Bone is a blistering guitar solo, showing just how good a guitarist Eddie is. The following tracks switch from the funky grooves of “Edge of the line”, jump blues of “big enough lever” through to the powerful slide on “revolution of love”, and Elmore James influences on “protest letter”. The most stunning aspect of this and all Eddies albums is that he plays simultaneous harp and guitar, mixing intricate solos on each, it’s akin to Little Walter meeting Freddie King and having a telepathic link!
A must have for any blues fan who is looking for something new and original!

I’ve just re-visited this CD and was compelled to review it and tell you how truly awsome Eddie Martin is. His playing is flawless, and full of emotion and energy. The album has it all, from the slow, fantastic, mix of guitar and piano in Autumn Blues to really up tempo, foot tapping blues numbers. There is some excellent sax playing here too, what a great instrument for blues! Eddie has a great voice and blows a mean harp too. This album is well worth buying!

I’ve been a huge fan of Eddie Martin since I first saw him.One of the best bluesmen in the world today. He’s English, and I’ll tell you what there ain’t anyone better than he is even in Chicago today.A brilliant songwriter,a cracking backing band, awesome guitar work.As well as electric guitar Eddie is also among the top few slide guitar players. He’s the possessor of a great voice as well. This is an absolutely top rate album from a master of his craft, the sort of release you’ll still be playing in ten to twenty years it’s that good.EM is these days producing better and more original blues than some of these current blues icons. This is one guy who truly deserves success and with albums this good surely it must come.
